Would Michele Bachmann leave the future behind?

A little off my usual topics, but can’t resist.

The “full transcript” didn’t plan for it to go this way. But in the rousing conclusion of her candidacy-announcement speech, Michele Bachmann ended up saying this:

Together we can rein in the corruption and the waste that has become Washington and instead, we can leave behind a better future for the next generation of Americans.

  1. It sorta makes sense. When we are finished putting all our programs into place, those who come after us will have a better future. So we are leaving behind us a better future for those who come next.

But what about “reigning in”? Is that from the transcript that the Bachmann people put out? Or is the New Statesman slipping?

    1. Oops, that’s my transcription — thanks. (The correct term seems in dispute, though: “rein in spending” = 551,000 Google pages, while “reign in spending” = draws a respectable 281,000….)

That’s from the New Statesman transcript that you linked to. Since it’s not what Bachmann actually said, I assume it’s the draft that her people distributed to the press.

  3. Michelle Bachman seems a refreshing change. We need a woman for president. She’s obviously a woman who cares. A woman who took in foster kids. A woman who has made sacrifices. A woman who has endured hardships. Few people can match her qualifications. It is pathetic and juvenile that the media has attacked her over her John Wayne mishap. Oh, please. Is that all you have? Get over it. Let’s talk about Barak obama not being born in USA or his lies and theatrics about killing Bin Laden. Isn’t anyone looking at how withing minutes of him announcing bin laden death, there was suddenly a group of people on the white house lawn? Cmon now…..this guy has to go. It’s time for a woman. Men have been f……this county up for years.
